14. Stow Day 2

However, earlier in the day we had been out and about. It started out with a shuffle of rooms (at our request). Then we visited several villages including Snowshill, Stanton, a Roman Villa at Chedworth and Bibury.

The shuffle of rooms came about coz I was really struggling with climbing two and a half sets of stairs going to our room and I asked for a ground floor room instead - they had been fully booked over the weekend but many had moved on (or gone home) by yesterday morning. Anyway, they agreed and in addition, they moved our stuff for us, which was a huge blessing, and relief, to us.

The other highlight of the day for me was visiting the Roman Villa. It dates back to 43AD but was only rediscovered in the 1860s and excavation and restoration has been going on since then. It really is an amazing site and sight!

23 Mar 2025 And I think it’s a “yes” in regards to updating Blogger via my phone! Yay!!! And while I’m here, can I say that we only have 2 more sleeps before we head to the Airport! 2. Test Blog & Cases Packed

5.15pm: Yay! We’ve packed our cases and then the big weigh moment was upon us! Both cases came in at 18kg which is pretty good for us. We’re allowed 25kg but we have 2 internal flights in the UK whose allowances are 20kg, so we knew we had to keep under that amount. A big tick for us ✅ 3.25pm: and another yay moment. With the help of our friend Ali, we've finally worked out how other people can access the Blog! It took several attempts to get it right but finally we've done it. AND what's more, I've worked out how to update the Blog on my phone. It all sounds like it should be quite straight forward and in one sense it is but there's always little hidden secrets lurking in the background that challenge that notion of things being too easy! And so, now I can concentrate on packing my side of the case! 42. Kelso Day 3

Today was another special day for me as Norm and I spent a second day with cousins and their respective families - Linda had invited 9 of her extended family (siblings, aunts and cousins) to join us for lunch at her home. However, beforehand she had taken us to 3 of the local cemeteries to view the places of burial of some ancestors (some in marked graves, others were grassed sites).  We had a wonderful afternoon - they were all so welcoming of us - one person had travelled across from the west coast to meet us; the others were relatively local.  It was a real privilege to meet them and our conversations were lively. Thanks Linda for organising the day. It’s a shame Jacki couldn’t have joined us coz I know she would have loved to have been there as well.
